Uncrowned Queens Radio Project Internship

The Uncrowned Queens: Voices of African American Women is a local weekly radio program produced by WNED.The heart of each program is three portraits of local, living African Americanwomen told in their words, with their own voices. Each portrait is nested in anappropriate sound-scape that illuminates the activities and concerns of the speaker’s story.
UQ Radio Project is in need of research assistants/interns. Responsibilities include:

  • Researching historical documents, periodicals, public records etc.
  • Written reports of findings or facsimiles thereof

Skills Required:

  • Computer skills – working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related applications
  • Strong research and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively

Desired Qualifications:

  • An interest in the public service mission of public broadcasting
  • An interest in education and utilizing online and multimedia resources
  • A willingness and ability to learn and to participate in The WNED’s Uncrowned Queens: Voices of African American Women radio project.

All internships are unpaid, but academic credit may be available through your institution.  We do require a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, on a consistent schedule.  You will not need a car, but there is free parking at WNED. You will need library access.
