Position Title: FM Announcer, Casual

Summary:

Serves as Announcer and Master Control Operator during on-air shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities: Monthly % Time Spent
Serves as announcer and master control operator during local music programming and live or taped network (and other acquired) programs. Monitor transmitter performance and maintains transmitter program logs. 80%

Selects a portion of the music to be played on air, depending on shift worked. Some announcing shifts require the announcer to do little or no music programming other than post-concert ‘fill’music; others – the two weekday drive-time shifts, in particular - include music selection as a major responsibility.

Reports (or solves) programming or equipment discrepancies or problems as they occur. During non-business hour shifts, takes responsibility for overall FM operations and monitors security.

Qualifications and Education Required:
  • Excellent on-air skills and knowledge of broadcast operations and standards.
  • Knowledge of classical music and the concert world.
  • Previous experience in classical music radio preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in music, broadcasting or related field.
  • Familiarity with current production and editing software highly desirable.
