“When I thought about what makes a community interesting and livable, it’s not just spectacular places or energetic places. It’s how you can see your neighbours and the people that live around where you are. And the bike path does that in a fantastic way. –Patrick Okens (Topic: The Burlington Bike Path)
“Rural and city blended together in one seamless package is really what Burlington is about” ---Greg Fayarchuk (Topic: Rural vs. Urban Burlington)
“The green space in Burlington absolutely matters to the people who live in Burlington”---Michelle Bennett (Topic: Public and Private Gardens)
Situated right on the beautiful shore of Lake Ontario, Burlington is midway between Buffalo and Toronto. It’s a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Boasting just over 175,000 residents, Burlington is the number one mid-sized city in Canada, according to MoneySense Magazine’s annual rankings for 2013.
This year, the magazine created new categories, including small, medium and large-sized cities. In addition to its number one ranking, Burlington was also named the third best city overall in Canada. But that is not news to the people living in Burlington who are fond of their hometown for many reasons and agreed to share some of the area’s true charms with the WNED-TV audience.
In September and October of 2012, 16 volunteers captured some of Burlington’s foremost “points of pride” for OUR TOWN: BURLINGTON, WNED’s 18th community “video scrapbook” production.
As these volunteer videographers show through their footage, Burlington has something to offer everyone.
