WNED ǀ WBFO INTRODUCES IN-DEPTH EDUCATION REPORTING INITIATIVE Featured

"Focus on Education" made possible by a two-year grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting

BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED ǀ WBFO Buffalo-Toronto is pleased to introduce "Focus on Education," an education reporting initiative created to document the issues and opportunities surrounding the local educational system and engage the community. "Focus on Education" will include in-depth radio reports on WBFO-FM 88.7, live event broadcasts on WNED-TV and a community engagement aspect.

"There are many serious issues and successes in the education systems," said Donald K. Boswell, WNED ǀ WBFO president and CEO. "This is a tremendous opportunity to dig deeply into those stories, hear all sides of a variety of challenges and opportunities, and encourage discussion and action."

"Focus on Education" will inform and engage the public about the challenges in the local education system, hold officials responsible to families, and document undertakings that have the potential to change the trajectory of education.

WBFO senior reporter, Eileen Buckley, will be covering the "Focus on Education" initiatives. A nearly 30-year news radio veteran, Buckley produces and reports on in-depth features and spot news stories during local segments of "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered." She has also provided National Public Radio with reports of stories of interest from the Buffalo Niagara region. Buckley was honored in 2013 with a "Pinnacle Award" from the Buffalo Broadcasters Association for 25 years of reporting excellence.

A complete list of "Focus on Education" radio reports is available online at wbfo.org.

These reports are part of American Graduate – Let’s Make It Happen! – a public media initiative to address the drop out crisis, supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
