ERIE COUNTY FAIR TO BE CELEBRATED IN NEW WNED-TV PROGRAM Featured

“The Great Erie County Fair,” honoring the Fair’s 175th anniversary, will air on Monday, June 2 at 8 p.m.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Erie County Fair, a time-honored community tradition, will be celebrated in a new documentary from WNED-TV on Monday, June 2 at 8 p.m.The Great Erie County Fair,” a WNED-TV original production, commemorates 175 years of tradition and documents all the charm, excitement, stories and competitive spirit that animate the Fair.

“The Erie County Fair represents Americana at its finest and is one of the most recognizable events in our area,” said Donald K. Boswell, WNED ǀ WBFO president and CEO. “From the exceptional exhibits and entertaining performances to the coveted blue ribbons and scrumptious food, the Fair highlights the extraordinary community spirit that Erie County is molded from.”

“The Great Erie County Fair” offers viewers a front-row seat to all the Fair has to showcase, from the Grandstand to the show ring. It weaves together a patchwork of individual stories, like the young 4-H exhibitors who work year-round in hopes of winning a blue ribbon. Narrated by former Channel 7 weatherman Tom Jolls, “The Great Erie County Fair” captures the quintessential spirit of the Fair as it celebrates 175 years.

“The Erie County Agricultural Society is extremely excited to have partnered with Western New York Public Broadcasting to present the Erie County Fair on television,” said Dennis R. Lang, Erie County Fair CEO and manager. “When preparations began for the 175th Erie County Fair in 2014, we looked for creative ways to share our story and history with the community. In WNED-TV, we found an organization of skilled storytellers who shared our same passion for the Fair and commitment to the community. The documentary captures the many human stories that come together to make our Fair one of the most unique in North America.”

“The Great Erie County Fair” is made possible by the Erie County Agricultural Society and the members of WNED-TV.
