Position Title:   Manager, Foundation and Community Development

Reports to:         Director, Foundation and Community Development

Position Summary

 

Provide high-level administrative support to the Director, Foundation and Community Development and, as needed, to the President and CEO.   In cooperation with the Executive Assistant to the President and CEO, perform various internal functions important to the operation of the department and well-being of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Foundation & Community Development

  • In cooperation with the Director, Foundation and Community Development, engage in foundation prospect identification on behalf of WNED|WBFO productions. Craft Letters of Inquiry and submit full proposals according to funder specifications. Provide ongoing stewardship of funders, including follow-up reporting, Proof of Performance, and on-air and off-air recognition in cooperation with the Director, Foundation and Community Development. Maintain detailed records of all donor communication and information.
  • Serve as a member of the Capital Campaign Committee. Prepare donor ask materials, serve as staff contact for specific donors, and provide stewardship of donors in cooperation with the capital campaign team.
  • Attend President’s Staff and/or other meetings as department representative if needed.
  • Serve as member of the Annual Report team.

Other

  • Review grant-related materials provided by other departments to ensure conformance with funder parameters.
  • Maintain and update any and all WNYPBA Board materials as needed, including orientation handbook, rosters
  • Such other duties and special projects as may be assigned by the Dir., Foundation & Community Development and President/CEO.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Communications preferred
  • Proven grant writing, fundraising, and community relations experience
  • Project budget experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, research, communication skills required
  • Excellent computer skills: PC literate, proficient with Word, Excel
  • Task-oriented and highly organized with the ability to prioritize effectively while continuing to work on multiple tasks with a minimum of direct supervision

  • Create interactive digital graphics for social media sites, e-blasts, TV stills and online display advertising (for wned.org, wbfo.org and outside websites).

  • Research new media initiatives and coordinate department and/or company training opportunities. Also, keep up on the latest trends/software for interactive graphic design.
  • Design print and other material, as needed.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Strong knowledge of digital media, digital publishing or interactive graphic design
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience is preferred, ideally in media and/or non-profit setting.

  • Strong writing, grammar and spelling skills essential.

Department: Development

Summary

Develops, produces and coordinates the production and pre-production of all associated television and radio needs, including all live or pre-taped TV and radio pledge drives and TOOPS. Coordinate production aspects as they relate to individual stations needs.  Communicate and coordinate all aspects of campaigns to the following departments: programming, production, engineering, membership, graphics, communications and traffic.

II. Duties and Responsibilities

TV and Radio Pledge drives
Develop and produce all elements needed for the production of all on-air fundraising productions on WNED-TV, WBFO and WNED Classical.  Create and maintain green sheets and break sheets; schedule, train and supervise crew and talent; coordinate special guest visits; Coordinate ticket deals; work with off-site closed captioning company; coordinate set any on-air needs with graphics, including pledge stills; and coordinate and supervise studio and field shoots.  Work with Senior Director to create roll-in materials, promos, and spots; produce virtual pledge events for national distribution.  Assist with production of core pledge programs, and manage related activities such as editing, promos, uplinks, station relations, and talent relations.  Develop, create and communicate membership messages to viewers during WNED-TV, WBFO & WNED Classical
interstitial breaks outside of pledge, to support year-round fundraising efforts.

Other Fundraising Productions
Assist in production and development of 7% impact spots for all stations; produce Antiques Homeshow promotion night; video needs for JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition; virtual pledge events for national distribution.  Assist with production of core pledge programs, and manage
related activities such as editing, promos, uplinks, station relations, and talent relations.

Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in television production. 
  • Previous Development and marketing experience preferred. 
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills.
  • Superior ability to develop new fundraising events.
  • Minimum 4 years of television production. 
  • Minimum 4-year college degree.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes working multiple nights, early mornings and weekends.

Coordinates RSVP’s and registrations for department events and screenings. Organization of project and business files. Schedules and coordinates meetings and any needed materials or hospitality. Provides any needed clerical support such as meeting notes, e-mailing, faxing, copying, etc. Ordering and maintaining needed office supplies and other project related materials. Coordinates all program and project award submissions and review of any agreements, budgets, etc.

Assist in covering WNED / WBFO main front desk.

All other duties as assigned.

  • Associate’s degree or two years of college in communications or business preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience is preferred, ideally in media and/or non-profit setting.

Position Title:  Corporate Development Sales Representative

Department:    Marketing & Sales

Reports To: Vice President of Marketing & Sales

Status:             Full Time, Exempt

Summary:

The Corporate Development Sales Representative is responsible for securing revenue from broadcast, online, sponsorship events and other media opportunities as they become available, from local, regional and national business accounts. The Corporate Development Sales Representative must possess the skill and desire necessary to develop new revenue accounts, and submit weekly and monthly reports of local sales activity to the Vice President of Marketing & Sales.  Must meet and surpass budgetary and non-budgetary goals.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain monthly and quarterly sales pacing to reach annual sales budgetary goals
  • Prospect for new leads and potential underwriters, advertisers, production funders direct and through advertising agencies in the business community locally, regionally and nationally
  • Initiate and obtain meetings for relationship building resulting in sales proposals with prospects and current underwriters in the business community locally, regionally and nationally
  • Use audience research and data to include in presentations, creating and proposing multi-platform sponsorship opportunities for potential and current clients
  • Attend client lunches/dinners and community outreach initiatives where applicable
  • Participate in on-going sales training
  • Stay abreast of market trends and competitive activity in commercial and public radio, television and online media sales
  • Help secure funding in conjunction with other departments as opportunities are presented
  • Comply with all WNED/WBFO policies and guidelines
  • Work with Vice-President of Sales and Marketing to obtain on-air and web copy approval
  • Use of a computer, telephone and other office and/or broadcast equipment; possessing the ability to communicate effectively through a variety of methods is required
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports as required of local sales activity and projections to the Vice President of Marketing & Sales.

 Qualifications:

§  Bachelor’s degree or satisfactory equivalent experience required

§  Minimum 2-3 years of media sales experience required; radio, television, online or print sales preferred

§  Requires prior experience building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external contacts
