Call the Midwife, Season 4

The season begins Sunday, March 29 at 8 p.m.

Season 4 finds the nurses, midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House in a new decade—the 1960s. A new nurse, Barbara Gilbert, joins Nonnatus, and after a less-than-ideal start, she earns the respect of her colleagues by helping a new mother overcome her struggles. Trixie is up against one of the most emotionally draining cases of her careers, and Sister Evangelina finally agrees to undergo tests for her abdominal pain. The Turners make a domestic deal that is uncharacteristic for the 1950s and 60s.
