Scherzo, the “Library Dog,” resides in the Peter Goldsmith Music Library, here at Classical 94.5 WNED. Scherzo received his education at Miss Dewey’s Puppy School, majoring in library fetching. Upon graduation, Scherzo got a job at a local public library branch. Unfortunately, the library was located next to a barbecue restaurant and the smell of roasting ribs was too much of a distraction to Scherzo. He was soon relieved of his duties. Thinking that library work really wasn’t for him, Scherzo got a job in the retail world, working as a ball retriever at a local driving range. After getting nailed by a few errant drives, Scherzo left that job. He realized that he needed to follow his heart and devote himself to the three things he loved most: Classical Music, fetching and sleeping in quiet places. It was right around this time that the music librarian at Classical 94.5 WNED realized that some help was needed in maintaining the collection of over 32,000 CDs, while at the same time assisting the program hosts with finding CDs. Scherzo heard the call, came to work in our music library and it’s been a perfect match ever since. Once Scherzo was trained how to fetch CDs off the shelf and deliver them to the program hosts with a minimal amount of slobber on the cases, he has been the model assistant to the music librarian. He is especially helpful during the Mid-Day and Saturday Evening Request shows, when things get very busy.
