Brad Mazon, Ph.D. has been named as director of foundation and community development at WNED ǀ WBFO Buffalo-Toronto. Mazon, of West Seneca, has previously served as the dean for resource development for the College of the Marshall Islands (CMI) where he developed, monitored, and promoted all phases of external funding activities, including public and private funding relationships. He raised approximately $3.75 million in public and private sector support in Asia and North America for the college.

“We’re thrilled to have Brad join the WNED ǀ WBFO team,” said Donald K. Boswell, WNED ǀ WBFO president and CEO. “At a time when our financial success is critical to the robust services we provide our members, viewers and listeners, Brad’s diverse fundraising experience will help drive us to the next level.”

Mazon’s previous experience includes positions as the major gifts/grants officer for corporate and foundation relations at Buffalo State College and the executive director of Buffalo/Niagara WorldConnect, Inc.  He is also an adjunct lecturer at Buffalo State College in the Department of Higher Education.

Mazon received a doctorate in higher education administration from the University at Buffalo in 2010, a Master of Science from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas.

WBFO-FM 88.7 Launches Local Sports Segment

WBFO-FM 88.7 is introducing a new regular segment to its morning news lineup during the Bills season. “Beyond the Playbook” will provide insightful and lively commentary on the Buffalo Bills. WBFO morning host Jay Moran and commentator Matt Sabuda will chat twice a week about a broader team perspective, highlighting trends and developments with the Bills on and off the field. 

“We know that Buffalo is a die-hard sports town and many of our regular listeners are avid Bills fans,” said WNED ǀ WBFO president and CEO Donald K. Boswell. “This new segment will allow our listeners to keep up with the Bills while enjoying the in-depth news programming that WBFO and NPR offers in the morning.”

The new segment will premiere on Monday, September 8 and will be heard each Monday and Friday mornings at 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. during “Morning Edition.”

Matt Sabuda is a life-long Bills fan and season ticket-holder who is a founding director of the Buffalo Fan Alliance. He is frequently interviewed by local radio and television stations and has contributed perspectives on football to numerous publications.  He previously worked in media relations for the Buffalo Bills. The Elmwood Village resident attended New York University and has a communications degree from Canisius College. 

Jay Moran is also a life-long Bills fan and season ticket-holder whose radio career in the Buffalo region spans three decades.

"Schools at a Crossroads: Interviews with Buffalo School Board Candidates" airs Friday, May 2 at 8 p.m.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED ǀ WBFO Buffalo-Toronto and The Buffalo News are collaborating to present a series of in-depth, individual interviews with candidates for the Buffalo Board of Education. "Schools at a Crossroads: Interviews with Buffalo School Board Candidates" will air Friday, May 2 at 8 p.m. and be rebroadcast Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The program will air on WNED-TV leading up to the election and the interview segments will be available on wbfo.org and buffalonews.com.
