CELEBRATE NEW YORK STATE IN APRIL WITH WNED’s ‘ThinkBright’ TV
 

60-plus Specials/29 Series Feature a New York Connection

Get into a “New York state of mind” throughout April, when ThinkBright TV (Time Warner 21/Digital 17.3) airs “Celebrate New York!” an unprecedented line-up of more than 60 specials and 29 series with a New York State connection.

From national documentaries to local productions from PBS stations across the state, “Celebrate New York!” explores the Empire State — its rich natural beauty, fascinating people, significant history and culinary and artistic delights. The programs will air on all seven ThinkBright stations throughout upstate New York, reaching more than 876,000 households.

Highlights include:

  • Travel/vacation spots (Wineries of WNY & the Finger Lakes - April 3, 10 pm; Lighthouses of the Seaway Trail - April 10, 8 pm; Dream Destinations: NY’s Contemporary Canals - April 17, 8 pm)

  • Natural wonders (Niagara Falls –April 3, 9 pm; Inside Adirondacks: Creating the Wild Center  - April 12, 10 pm; Hudson River Journeys - April 12, 10:30 pm)
  • Musical treats (Rochester International Jazz Festival - April 1, 9 pm; An Evening with the Harlem Boys & Girls Alumni Choir - April 8, 9 pm; Crane School of Music: Beethoven Sonatas - April 29, 9 pm)
  • Distinctive architecture  (Great Homes of Rochester – April 13, 20 & 27, 11 pm; The Barn - April 26, 10 pm; A Tribute to Love: Story of Boldt Castle - April 27, 10 pm)
  • New York City landmarks (all April 2): Ken Burns’ American Stories The Statue of Liberty (8 pm); Brooklyn Bridge (9 pm); and American Experience Grand Central (10 pm).
  • Western New York history (all April 30): The Pan-American Experience (8 pm); Frank Lloyd Wright’s Buffalo (9 pm);  Fort Niagara: Struggle for a Continent (10 pm); Central Terminal: Saving a Buffalo Landmark (10:30 pm).
  • TASTE OF NEW YORK, a new 13-part series from Rochester’s WXXI, features the state’s food, wine and agriculture (Sundays at 8:30 pm beginning April 6).
