BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED’s Horizons Gallery will host “Dreams and Other Contagious Imagery” by Western New York artist Kathyrn Bihr Sept. 5 to 28. The free exhibition will be on view weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery is located in the WNED studios at 140 Lower Terrace, across from the Adam’s Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. Free parking is available.
The large, abstract paintings in this exhibit depict the interconnected fleeting images and emotions that are conjured up in dreams and influence our conscious lives.
“Thoughts seep into our minds in dreams influenced by momentary exchanges and visual glimpses in our everyday lives,” Bihr stated. “These layers of images, feelings and experiences lay dormant in our minds, ready to spring to life in our dreams.”
Bihr studied painting at Chouinard, California Institute of the Arts and Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. She returned to the East Coast to study film and photography at the University at Buffalo and drawing at the Fashion Institute in New York. For several years, she has worked in film in New York City while continuing to paint. She maintains residences in New York City and Orchard Park, N.Y.
