BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED’s Horizons Gallery will host “Sonia Peñaranda Gonzalez: Recent Works” Oct. 3-31. The free exhibition will be on view weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Complimentary parking is available.
An opening reception, also open to the public, will take place Thursday, Oct. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The exhibition features colorful, abstract paintings, largely inspired by nature. The artist is an Orchard Park resident whose work has appeared throughout Western New York, including in several Collector’s Gallery juried exhibitions at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. She holds an M.S. in Museum Studies from Buffalo State College as well as an architect degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in her native Colombia. In addition, Gonzalez studied oil painting and drawing at the Art Institute League of New York in New York City under the direction of renowned artist Andy Lukatch.
