Buffalo, NY – In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, WNED’s Horizons Gallery will host Autistic Services, Inc.’s 2010 Annual Art Exhibit April 2-30. Free and open to the public weekdays from 9 am to 4:30 pm, the gallery is located in the WNED studios at 140 Lower Terrace, across from the Adam’s Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo; Tel.: 716-845-7000. An opening reception, also free and open to all, will take place Friday, April 2 at 6 pm. The No Words Spoken drumming group will perform at 6:30 pm.
The exhibition showcases the artistic talents and creative interpretations of students at Autistic Services, Inc. in Williamsville, N.Y. This educational and support organization provides comprehensive services for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. The students and their accomplishments also are highlighted in the locally produced television documentary Autism: A Self Portrait, airing on WNED’s ThinkBright and Well TV on Friday, April 5 at 9:30 pm. In addition, autism awareness specials will air throughout April each Monday from 9 to 10 pm on ThinkBright and Well.
