BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED-TV will premiere “Mark Russell’s America” on Friday, June 1 at 9 p.m. and broadcast “Doc Martin: The Movie” on Saturday, June 2 at 8 p.m.
For three decades, Mark Russell, the savvy satirist from Buffalo dubbed "the funniest man on television" by "TV Guide" shared his insights on national and world politics and society to public television audiences nationwide. Re-discover highlights of Mark Russell’s more than 100 PBS specials from 1975-2004 in this new WNED-TV production on Friday, June 1 at 9 p.m. The special also features a recent interview with Russell as he provides inimitable context for his most memorable television moments. Covering the eras of Presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Clinton and George W. Bush with ample comedic fodder, including presidential campaigns, Congressional antics and defining moments ¾ from Iran-Contra and the first Gulf War to the Monica Lewinski scandal, this program showcases Russell’s poetic humor.
“Doc Martin: The Movie” will air on WNED-TV on Saturday, June 2 at 8 p.m. When successful but unhappy Doctor Martin Bamford discovers his wife, Petronella, has been sleeping with three of his friends, his world is ripped apart. Bamford flees London and heads for the small fishing village of Port Isaac, on the north coast of Cornwall. “Doc Martin: The Movie” tells the story of Martin Bamford as he works out the big questions in his life.
