BUFFALO, N.Y. – “Spend Well, Live Rich with Michelle Singletary” premieres Monday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. on WNED-TV Buffalo/Toronto. Taped in October in the WNED Studios in downtown Buffalo, this WNED production will air nationally on PBS in March 2012.
Michelle Singletary is an award-winning, nationally syndicated columnist for “The Washington Post.” Her column, “The Color of Money,” is carried by more than 100 newspapers with a readership of over a million people, including “The Buffalo News.”
“When Michelle Singletary was featured in the WNED production ‘Your Life, Your Money’ (2009), we knew her sage financial guidance warranted its own distinct vehicle for presentation,” says WNED President and CEO Donald K. Boswell. “WNED is pleased to have worked with Michelle to create this national special for public television. Her sound advice is both engaging and empowering.”
Singletary delivers advice on personal finance in this witty and informative program. Relying on her professional knowledge and the advice from her grandmother, affectionately known as “Big Mama,” Singletary encourages people to take control of their financial lives and save for the future. “Living rich,” says Singletary, “is about living the life you say you want and not the life dictated by Madison Avenue marketers.”
In her easy-to-understand approach, the program highlights Singletary’s 7 Money Mantras:
- If it’s on your a$&, it’s not an asset.
- Is it a need or a want?
- Sweat the small stuff.
- Cash is better than credit.
- Keep it simple.
- Priorities lead to prosperity.
- Enough is enough.
Funding for “Spend Well, Live Rich with Michelle Singletary” was provided by HSBC in the Community (USA) Inc. Foundation and PBS.
