Both programs are part of the “Pain Killers Kill” initiative, a campaign designed to bring awareness of addiction to prescription painkillers and other medications. The initiative is sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of WNY.
The program will be broadcast in segments, breaking away to the studio for follow up discussion with parents, local experts and individuals featured in the documentary. Drug counseling volunteers from community partnerships will be taking phone calls from viewers and offer information packets to those interested in further information on the epidemic of painkiller addiction.
Classroom and community engagement resources and lesson plans are currently being developed for middle, high school and collegiate students as well as parents and community groups. Find more information about these valuable resources at wned.org or at painkillerskill.org in late November.
