Pianist Fabio Bidini re: Rachmaninoff Festival

Van Cliburn competition medalist Fabio Bidini returns to Buffalo by critical acclaim to perform the rarely heard Piano Concerto No. 4 in G minor by Rachmaninoff, part of the first of a two-weekend Rachmaninoff Festival with JoAnn Falletta and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Kleinhans.  In a conversation with WNED's Peter Hall, Bidini talks about the joys and challenges winning competitions as well as playing Rachmaninoff.  He has nice comments about the American music conservatory system and discusses recording Marcel Tyberg's Piano Sonata No. 2 which can be found on the BPO's Naxos CD featuring Tyberg's Symphony No. 2.

Seven Percent

WNED-TV is one of the most watched PBS television stations. Since 1977, Classical 94.5 has offered round the clock classical music. WBFO is already a compelling News & Information station and is growing every day. All three of your stations could be so much stronger. But they need to be financially supported by the people that use them.

The PBS/NPR industry average of member-to-audience is 7%. WNED|WBFO are at only 4%, which is hard to understand. Hence, we are launching 7% Impact – an endeavor to bring the ratio up to industry standards and strengthen your public broadcasting stations’ programming. You can make the difference with your financial support! Be part of 7% Impact now.
