Quartetto Gelato Regarding

For over two decades, Quartetto Gelato has been delighting audiences with their eclectic musicianship, and for just as long, Classical 94.5 WNED has been playing their CDs. Now, this Friday, Oct. 3 at 8:00 p.m. at Rosch Recital Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus, this Toronto-based group performs virtuosic classical, folk and pop music with theatrical flair and a taste of acrobatics! WNED's Peter Hall spoke with two of the quartet, violinist and tenor Peter DeSotto and cellist Liza McLellan.

It's Jacek Muzyk's year!  Next May the BPO's principal hornist leads a musical tour of his native Poland with JoAnn Falletta, before that he'll solo with the BPO in Penderecki's Horn Concerto, this November he's touring China, and this Saturday night, October 4th at 7:30pm at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall on the Buff State Campus, he's playing the premiere of a special arrangement of Richard Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 1 with the Buffalo Brass Choir.  WNED's Peter Hall spoke with their Music Director, Nick Delbello along with Jacek Muzyk about the Strauss Sesquicentennial program.

Guitarist James Piorkowski is launching a new album "NINE" (nine original compositions) on the Centaur label.  Prior to its release, Piorkowski and friends present "NINE Live" Sunday October 5th at 7pm at Canisius College's Montante Cultural Arts Center and Tuesday October 7th at 8pm at SUNY Fredonia's Rosch Recital Hall.  Some of the works deal with hope after tragedy, including "Toward the Light, Flight 3407" and "Eucharisteo" (dedicated to Piorkowski's son Ben who recently passed away).  Others celebrate Ben's love of travel, including "One Morning in Venice" and "El Camino a Oviedo."  WNED's Peter Hall spoke with the composer/guitarist.
