Thank You from WBFO's Blues Bash!

A sellout crowd attended WBFO’s Buffalo Blues Bash on April 22 in the WNED|WBFO studios in downtown Buffalo. The headliner was Altered Five Blues Band. The opening Act was Buffalo’s own Hayden Fogle Band with special guest Vin DeRosa.

The headliner for WBFO’s Blues Bash was the ALTERED FIVE BLUES BAND. They are proclaimed “a staple of the Midwest’s band scene” and “a festival favorite” by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in 2012, Altered Five’s delectable brew of blues and soul has quickly gained national attention. The band won "Blues Artist of the Year" at the 2014 WAMI Award Show, and Cryin' Mercy won "Best Self-Released CD" at the 2015 International Blues Challenge. They are Milwaukee's Rockin' Rhythm & Blues Band!

From day one, Altered Five dared to be different. The quintet formed in 2002 and quickly gained a reputation for its inventive arrangements and distinctive sound. Isthmus magazine called the band “a rising blues unit” and OnMilwaukee.com declared, “The group delivers the element of surprise.”

The opening Act was Buffalo’s own HAYDEN FOGLE BAND with special guest VIN DeROSA. Hayden Fogle and Vin DeRosa won the recent local round of the Western New York Blues Society’s 19th annual “Memphis Bound” competition, and ensured their spot as representatives of our region at the International Blues Challenge.

Hayden had the honor of being invited to perform a blues improvisation with the legendary Buddy Guy during a concert in Buffalo, NY on June 12, 2012 and several times since. Hayden stunned everyone in the audience. You will enjoy this young guitar prodigy who straps on a Fender to mystify blues audiences!

Hayden Fogle and Vin DeRosa represented Buffalo at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. For more information please check out the following stories: Buffalo News story by Jeff Miers, and WBFO Interview with Pat Feldballe.
