San Da - Share Your Story

My immigration story by San Da
I am from Thailand. I speak Burmese. I came to Buffalo, New York. My country is beautiful and nice. They have too much stores. They have a good place. The weather is good in my country.

My family left Thailand for me to get an education. I want to graduate college and then I want to be a teacher.

When I first came to America I cried because I didn’t want to come to America. When I went to school I made new friends. I met new teachers.

In Buffalo I have so much fun because it has a beach. It was hard for me to come to America because I had to learn how to speak English. My family wants me to be educated.

I like Buffalo because Buffalo has fun and it has so many places. Buffalo has beautiful places and Buffalo is a good place. Some people are good some people are not good.

What I don’t like in Buffalo is the fighting. The government in Thailand they take care of the people. They give the money and food. Some people are coming to fight in my country and we were scared.

The project aims to help the region develop a better understanding of the shared opportunities and challenges we face together as long-time residents and new immigrants and refugees.
