PBS KIDS Writers Contest

Congratulations to the 2017 WNED PBS KIDS Writers Contest Winners!

2017 WNED PBS KIDS Writer's Contest First Place Stories
The annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest is a national initiative designed to promote the advancement of children’s reading skills through hands-on, active learning. Partnering with PBS stations nationwide, the Contest encourages children in grades K-3 in communities across the country to celebrate the power of creating stories and illustrations by submitting their own original work.

We thank everyone who submitted stories to this annual celebration of writers and readers everywhere! We are thrilled that so many teachers and parents encouraged their young authors and illustrators to participate in the contest again this year. Congratulations to the young writers listed below, as their stories were chosen by our judges as outstanding in each age group. The judges had a hard time choosing winners because we had so many amazing entries! We invite you to read each of the stories linked below.

We also wish to give a big "thank you" to Medaille College for sponsoring the 2017WNED PBS KIDS Writers Contest!

We'd also like to thank Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for providing a book for every author who entered this year.
