Now We’re Cooking LIVE! episode 4 premiered in February 2024 in a revamped, one-hour early afternoon format!

Chef Katrina Gall of 43 Down at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel demonstrated how to prepare two signature recipes, and our six home cooks created delectable dishes under the guidance of our host chef, Brian Mietus of Bacchus, live in the studio!

Meet the Chefs

Katrina Gall

Katrina Gall is a trained chef and wine professional. She began her hospitality career in 2008 and has been working in many facets of the industry ever since. She began her training at George Brown College in Toronto and continued to Alma in Italy for a post graduate diploma in Italian cooking. 

Throughout her career she has worked for restaurants, catering companies, wineries and luxury hotels across Canada and Europe. As a Toronto native, she is the founder of A Glass in Hand, an online resource to help people understand and enjoy food and wine. She has earned 3 levels of training from WSET and an Italian Wine Scholar Diploma.

In her role as Restaurant Chef at the Sheraton Centre Toronto, Katrina leads the culinary team at 43 Down, the hotel’s mixology lounge. Her rotating, seasonal menus focus on locally sourced ingredients and flavors inspired by the diversity of Toronto.

Brian Mietus

Brian Mietus is a renowned chef from Buffalo, New York. Brian's career took him across the country after culinary school, working in some of the best kitchens in Utah, Vermont, and Vail, Colorado. His skills and dedication earned him recognition as one of the most promising chefs of his generation. In 2002, Brian returned home to Buffalo to bring his culinary expertise to the community that shaped him.

Currently, Chef Brian owns two successful restaurants in Buffalo. Bacchus Wine Bar is a top-rated fine dining establishment, offering a sophisticated experience with an extensive wine list. B Side Market is a relaxed lunch spot that serves sandwiches and rotisserie chicken.

Dedicated to giving back to the community, he works with local farmers to promote sustainable agriculture, and supports various charitable organizations. Chef Brian's commitment to his craft, his community, and his values make him an inspiration to aspiring chefs and food lovers alike.
