WNED Classical Live On Stage! Presents Music for Ten Strings

Please join us in the new WNED Classical Performance Space for performances by Angel Rhodes & Tom Torrisi as they present Music for Ten Strings on Saturday, April 13 at 7pm.

Violinist Angel Rhodes and guitarist Tom Torrisi will perform an eclectic program of music for violin and classical guitar, presenting their own arrangements of beloved works by J. S. Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Grieg alongside imaginative original compositions and a world premiere.

The event is free but you must register to attend.

Buffalo Toronto Public Media is conveniently located in downtown Buffalo at 140 Lower Terrace, near the I-190. The entrance to our parking lot is on Charles Street (also known as "Mark Russell Alley").

About the Performers

Angel Rhodes is a professional violinist from Hamburg, NY. She earned a bachelor's degree from the Eastman School of Music and a master's degree with a Suzuki Certificate from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. She has appeared as soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchard Park Symphony, and is currently a member of the Fort Collins Symphony and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. Angel is currently a teacher with Orchard Park Music Boosters and Orchard Park Suzuki Strings.

Tom Torrisi is a classical guitarist, composer, and arranger whose playing has been described as “expressive and full of beautiful details around every corner.” Tom is a passionate advocate for new music and frequently collaborates with composers premiering pieces by Rachel Fogarty, Gerald Garcia, Edgar Girtain, Evan Henry, Arthur Keegan-Bole, Timothy Lee Miller, Robert Morris, and Zack Pentecost among others and has performed at the 21st Century Guitar Festival, Black House Collective, June in Buffalo, Mostly Modern Festival, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and zFestival. As a composer Tom draws on his diverse and eclectic performance background and one can hear traces of influences as wide-ranging as French impressionism, Balinese gamelan, American minimalism, and heavy metal. In addition to the guitar, Tom is a passionate explorer of non-Western musical styles and currently teaches and performs with Nusantara Arts' Balinese gamelan ensemble, and has previously performed with Gamelan Sanjiwani and Gamelan Lila Muni in Rochester, NY.
