About WNED PBS

The Western New York Public Broadcasting Association (WNED PBS) is a trusted public media resource that enriches its audiences by providing educational, entertaining programming and services, as well as engaging the Western New York and Southern Ontario communities through cultural and civic involvement. We serve a binational region of 3.1 million households across Western New York and Southern Ontario with a combination of television, radio and online services.

WNED-PBS long ago established itself as an originator of television content for PBS; WNED-PBS was the founder of the Emmy Award winning “Reading Rainbow” series and was the producer of the popular Mark Russell Comedy Specials for PBS. Since then, WNED-PBS has expanded its position by becoming a significant producer of original high-definition television and online content for local and national distribution.

National productions broadcast on PBS include: "Understanding the Opioid Epidemic," “The Klondike Gold Rush,” “Frederick Law Olmsted: Designing America,” “The Shaw Festival: Behind the Curtain,” “The War of 1812,” “Underground Railroad: The William Still Story,” “Chautauqua: An American Narrative,” “The Adirondacks,” “The Marines,” “Niagara Falls,” “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Buffalo,” and “Elbert Hubbard: An American Original.”

Many WNED-PBS regional productions highlight historic and cultural treasures of Southern Ontario and Western New York. These include: “If Our Water Could Talk,” “Ralph,” “The Canadian Rockies by Rail,” “Remembering Western New York”, “Buffalo’s First Ward”, “Toronto’s First Family of Theatre,” “Toronto’s Houses of Worship,” “Polonia,” “Buffalo’s Houses of Worship” and “Hockey: More Than a Game.”
